Starting situations

The starting point is an operational need, not a list of technologies.

  • several access points or pieces of equipment must operate under coordinated rules
  • sequences or permissions must prevent an action that is incompatible with the system’s current state
  • energy measurement points must be organised around the uses to be monitored
  • an automation function must be added to an existing installation
  • a specific function requires dedicated electronics or a circuit board
  • the system must be testable before integration and then verifiable in its actual environment
  • teams need the relevant information to operate, maintain or develop the system

Four documented families

They share an analysis and integration approach without being four standardised products.

Interlock systems for airlocks

Define and configure access coordination and door sequences around the required operation of the airlock. The exact functions depend on the engineering work, relevant equipment and constraints confirmed for the project.

Energy metering

Structure a metering installation around the measurement points, uses to distinguish, available signals and planned integration.

Configurable automation modules

Develop or configure an automation function for integration into a machine, installation or existing technical assembly. The type of control, equipment and responsibilities are determined for each assignment.

Electronic circuit boards

Design or integrate an electronic circuit board when a specific function requires one. Our documented skills in electronic schematics and PCB design support this, without a public catalogue or series production.

What configurable means

A configurable system is not a piece of equipment with a few extra options. It connects an expected use to inputs, outputs, states, sequences, time delays and operating conditions that must remain coherent.

  • the actions allowed or prevented in each state
  • the order in which certain operations must occur
  • signals received from equipment, sensors or another installation
  • commands to be transmitted and the expected responses
  • time delays, thresholds or parameters to define
  • specific scenarios to address, such as a fault, loss of signal or emergency condition
  • the physical installation, power supply, wiring and existing interfaces
  • the required level of documentation, testing and support

Integration, testing and handover

The value of a configurable system depends as much on its integration as on its logic. Power supply, wiring, signals, existing equipment, site conditions and responsibilities between parties all influence the outcome.

  • analysis of uses, functions, interfaces and constraints
  • architecture design or development of the required logic
  • selection, preparation, manufacture or assembly of elements where included in the assignment
  • component integration and sequence verification
  • preparation or performance of FAT and SAT testing where applicable
  • on-site installation and commissioning
  • training, support or later changes where these activities are agreed

These capabilities may be mobilised, not systematically. Documentation, training and support are adapted to the context and are not included by default.

What a configurable system mobilises

Depending on the project, it extends or calls on:

  • an electrical or automation engineering study to define the need, architecture and interfaces
  • industrial electrical work to prepare, wire, connect or integrate the planned physical elements
  • an EMS project where certain measurements or interfaces belong to an environmental monitoring system
  • capabilities in electrical and electronic design, automation, instrumentation, testing, commissioning or validation

Environments and applicable requirements

Configurable systems may support industrial sites and regulated environments. Airlock management is a strong pharmaceutical use case, without limiting the offer to that sector. Documentation requirements, testing, traceability and commissioning arrangements are adjusted to the system, its use and the requirements that apply.
